New to DCU

Whoever you are, however you came to choose Dublin City University and whatever you are here to learn, we want to make the transition to university life as easy and enjoyable as possible. You are now part of a diverse, inclusive and vibrant DCU Community.

Orientation

The best way to find what is here, where it is and how to access your IT profile and online supports, is to take part in Orientation. All students are encouraged to take part in as many activities during Orientation as possible.

Orientation is for all students and will help you start participating in university life and feel like you belong here - because you do!

There is always an extra warm welcome for our International Students.  We want you to have the best possible experience in DCU but we know that trying to find your feet in a new country and education system while meeting all of the academic requirements can take time.

DCU staff and your fellow students are here to answer any questions, share tips on where to find the best coffee or live music or show you the sights of Dublin but there is also help available for more personal issues such as finance, sourcing accommodation, feeling a bit overwhelmed etc. We have a section dedicated to international students here.

My DCU - Discover Courses

To help you find your feet, we have created specific fun, short courses and challenges that you can access online after you accept your place. Even if you're here a few weeks or months and have missed them, we encourage you to check them out. They cover everything from what support services we have available, an introduction to DCU systems and technology, a wellbeing course full of helpful wellbeing tips and a university life course that talks about how to get involved in campus life and societies. Each course take less than thirty minutes and contains valuable information.  Remember, support is here and we encourage you to ask for it if you need it.

Your determination and commitment to your education has brought you here and we want you to have the best experience possible. Please reach out if you have any questions or just need to talk, sometimes transition can be difficult. It is filled with new people and experiences but remember, many will be just like you.

Difficulty Settling in?

Our team of Advisers in the Student Advice and Learning (SAL) centres are here to support you if you're finding it difficult to settle in.
