Academic biography

Louise Hopper is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology in Dublin City University (DCU) and Chair of the BSc in Psychology and Mathematics programme. She coordinates and delivers courses in Psychology Research Skills on the three undergraduate psychology programmes and the Critical Psychology and Wellbeing in the Community module on the MSc. Psychology and Wellbeing course. 

Louise is the Principal Investigator on a number of projects including the H2020 Erasmus+ INTenSE project (simulation of dementia experience; www.intenseprojectdementia.eu), the H2020 CAPTAIN project (e-coaching for older adults; www.captain-eu.org) and the National Dementia Registry Model Development (DoH, HSE funded) and a member of the Centre for eIntregrated Care (http://www.dcu.ie/ceic). She is also co-founder and co-chair of the Alzheimer Cafe Leixlip (www.alzheimercafeleixlip.ie).

Research interests

Louise's research interests include cognition (explicit and implicit), dementia (policy, awareness, assistive technologies, and psychosocial models of care), health service use, healthy ageing including brain-health awareness and chronic illness prevention, memory and developmental models of addiction, socio-cognitive theory, and attitude and behaviour models of health-related decisions.
