Erika Biagini
Hi, Erika Biagini here and I am Assistant Professor in Security Studies in the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University. I am also the current Chair of the BA in International Relations and I teach courses on research methodologies, international security, intelligence and national security; and intelligence and security analysis.
My own interests particularly focus on Islamism, gender and politics and I’ve lived extensively in Egypt where I conducted research on the Muslim Brotherhood and the activism of its female members, the Muslim Sisterhood, in the aftermath of the 2011 uprising.
In my research I often look at the gender politics and sexuality of Islamist movements and I’m very interested in feminist politics amongs Islamist women activists. I also supervise a couple of PhD students with similar interests.
I’m just one of the many lecturers in the DCU School of Law and Government which by the way, was voted Law School of the Year at the annual Irish Law Awards in 2021. This award was not a surprise to me because my colleagues are fantastic and expert at what they do - which you will see for yourself when you choose DCU!
