DCU - A research intensive university

DCU - A research intensive university

Dublin City University is a young public university with a reputation for internationally renowned research and is well-placed to be the fulcrum of Ireland-India research collaborations.

Established only in 1989, DCU is ranked among the world's best in a league table of the world's young universities (less than 50 years old). In May 2012, the prestigious Times Higher Education announced DCU as one of the new '100 under 50'. This achievement follows closely on the QS World Top 50 under 50 University Rankings in which DCU was the only featured higher education institution on the island of Ireland.

This University covers an enormous range of disciplines from the Humanities and Engineering to Health and the Natural Sciences. DCU has emerged with national leadership in strategic research areas and strengthening international linkages and reputation.

Joint research takes place with institutions across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania.

Our research activities are supported by funding from sources such as Irish Government funding agencies, European Union Framework 7 and industry partners.

DCU-Industry Collaboration

Research in the 21st century by its very nature is collaborative: DCU is open to and actively encourages research collaborations at all levels with external organisations and in particular with industrial partners. It is essential that the research knowledge and expertise within DCU is transferred into tangible socio-economic impacts. This can best be achieved through partnerships with industry and other social partners.
