The DCU Centre for Possibility Studies is pleased to invite you to a special lunchtime lecture by internationally recognised scholar and creativity theorist Prof. Giovanni Emanuele Corazza, who will explore the emerging paradigm of cyber-creativity—where humans and intelligent machines collaborate in the creative process.

Abstract:

The collaboration between humans and machines with variable levels of autonomy in the creative process, or “cyber-creativity”, is a critical issue for reflection and discussion. Whereas Generative AI tools have invaded the fields of content production, once held as purely human domains, still it is believed that humans shall be much more than pure managers of intelligent machines. In this historical time, we are at the crossroad between two paths that could lead us towards extremely different futures, either utopian or dystopian in nature. We believe that the scientific research community is called to action, to favor the advent of the former and avoid the latter. For this purpose, a decalogue of research challenges will be presented, touching upon: 1) the theoretical framework for cyber-creativity; 2) sociocultural perspectives; 3) the cyber-creative process; 4) the creative agent; 5) the co-creative team; 6) cyber-creative products; 7) cyber-creative domains; 8) cyber-creative education; 9) ethical aspects; and 10) the dark side of cyber-creativity.
