DCU Alumni Celebrate annual All Ireland Brunches
There were two lovely afternoons on St Patrick’s campus during August, as the DCU Alumni led
the annual All Ireland Brunches. The events took place in advance of short trips to Croke Park,
where an enjoyable pre-match atmosphere, chat and refreshments, along with music and panel
discussion.
While it was great to have staff, alumni and friends of DCU present, the highlight of the events
was the amount of parents of players competing in the final present. It was great to hear their
thoughts on living with and dreaming for those who had such an impact on the final later each
afternoon. In the Gaelic Football final, we had nine graduates from Donegal involved, while in the
Ladies Football final, there were a staggering 24 students or graduates involved across the
Dublin and Meath sides. Well done to the Dublin side on their success and hard luck to our
Meath and Donegal contingent.
Thanks to our panels who contributed with insightful pre-match conversations and hopefully next
year there will be a strong DCU representation across the various finals in Croke Park. There
was also a length list of GAA personalities present as Tierney Talks entertained the crowd in
advance of the men’s football encounter with his outstanding impersonations.
Thanks to Kyran O’Brien for capturing both events. Well done to Jonathan Weir for his role in
coordinating both events and making them such a success.
