Brexit, the Financial Settlement and the Future of EU Finances
On 23 November 2017, the DCU Brexit Institute will host an event on “Brexit, the Financial Settlement and the Future of EU Finances”.
The workshop follows previous events on citizens' rights and the border and will examine specifically the third issue in the ongoing withdrawal negotiations: namely the financial settlement that the UK is expected to pay to the EU. In addition, the workshop will consider also the impact that Brexit has on the future of EU finances, including proposals for further integration in the Eurozone.
The event will feature an opening keynote speech by Baroness Falkner of Margravine (Chairwoman of the UK House of Lords EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee) and a closing keynote speech by Mairead McGuinness (Vice President of the European Parliament).
The event will also feature the participation of leading academics, business leaders and policy-makers, including Tony Foley (Dublin City University), Michael Keating (Center on Constitutional Change), Colm Kelpie (Irish Independent), Thilo Maurer (European Commission) and Kim Lane Scheppele (Princeton University).
