Rapids - by Shaun Dunne (Axis Theatre Ballymun)
As part of DCU’s cultural festival Anam 2019, DCU has partnered with the Axis Theatre Ballymun for a special showing of RAPIDS – a smash hit show that looks to playfully and respectfully make the private public.
Presented by DCU graduate, Shaun Dunne, and Talking Shop ensemble, Rapids explores instances of disclosure and the presence of stigma in the lives of men and women who are HIV+ in Ireland today.
In making this piece, the company have collaborated with several groups from the HIV+ community. From young men in rural Ireland to migrant women seeking asylum, this form-flipping piece of documentary theatre will take you through the myriad of perspectives and experiences that compound what it means to live positive in this country.
Produced in association with Project Arts Centre and funded through the Arts Council Touring Grant. This project is supported by Mermaid Arts Centre, HIV Ireland and ACT UP Dublin.
DCU's two-day cultural festival Anam will take place on 3rd and 4th April. Details of the programme for Anam 2019 will be announced in the coming days.
