Prof Tomás Ward, AIB Chair in Data Analytics, Inaugural Lecture
Modern forms of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are increasingly impacting many aspects of our everyday lives. In assisting us to work more productively, sleep better, move better, eat healthier and event be more creative, there is no doubt that AI can offer us the opportunity to live better.
In his inaugural lecture Professor Tomás Ward, who was appointed AIB Chair in Data Analytics at DCU last year, will discuss how research at DCU contributes towards realising this opportunity. In particular, he will explore how we wield modern machine learning approaches, wearable sensors, mobile computing and data analytics to realise new ways to help us understand and possibly improve human health, performance and decision making.
Tomás Ward is AIB Chair of Data Analytics at the School of Computing, Dublin City University. As a member of the Science Foundation Ireland-funded research centre Insight – Ireland’s Data Analytics research centre, Prof Ward studies how human health, performance and decision-making can be better understood through new ways of sensing and interpreting our physiology and behaviour.
