DCU Hybrid Awards Celebrate Student Media Excellence

The Hybrid Awards, DCU’s Student Media Awards, will take place in The Helix, Dublin City University on Thursday April 5th at 8pm. Hosted by the DCU Media Production Society and adjudicated by a panel of high-profile judges including RTÉ’s Bryan Dobson and Ruth Scott, the awards celebrate the long-standing tradition of excellence and creativity by DCU students in the area of communications and media.

A record number of students have submitted entries across a wide-ranging spectrum of media including film, radio, online or print in the hopes of carrying away a prize. The awards span 19 categories including Photographer of the Year, Radio Current Affairs Show of the Year, Blog of the Year, TV Production of the Year and many more.

Having received over 300 entries and looking forward to the night, Robyn Keleghan, Chairperson of MPS said, "The response this year from students has been phenomenal. The Hybrids recognise success in all aspects of student media production across the DCU campus. We are delighted to welcome a panel of seasoned media professionals this evening to help select and recognise the cream of Dublin City University."

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Patrick Kinsella, Head of the School of Communications at DCU said, “We are delighted to recognise the achievements of our students who are producing outstanding work independently and as a development of their academic studies. The DCU Hybrid Awards celebrate young, individual talent ready to join a new generation of confident media graduates who will find their own way into a brighter future.”

Faculty students and staff are encouraged to join together in attendance to honor the exceptional student media work produced throughout the year.
