III Diwali Celebration Concert 2014

The Ireland India Institute together with the Music Department at St Patrick's College Drumcondra is delighted to host An Evening of Indian Classical Music .

The concert will take place on Tuesday 21st October in the Auditorium at St Patrick's College Drumcondra. Held in collaboration with the Indian Classical Music Society of Ireland and the DCU Indian Society the evening will be an Ireland India Institute Celebration of Diwali promising to be a wonderful cultural evening for Indian music aficionados and curious novices alike!

The concert will feature performances by Tabla player, Debajyoti Sanyal from India and Sitarist, Dara O'Brien from Cork.

As part of the celebration the President's Office at St Patrick's College, Drumcondra will host a Reception.

Performer Biographies:

Debajyoti Sanyal regularly accompanies renowned classical musicians and in recent years he has also traveled internationally to give Indian classical concerts and classes, and participate in various projects of World Music. He has performed at various venues in Ireland and Europe including Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain,France and Portugal.

Dara O'Brien is a composer, performer, music educator and music therapist. He recently completed his Doctoral studies at UCC School of Music and Theatre where he lectures in Indian classical music and teaches sitar. Dara studied sitar in Varanasi, New Delhi and Kolkata under Pandit Kushal Das and Sougata Roy Chowdhury. He has extensive experience composing and performing music for contemporary dance, along with film, and is co-director of Shakram Dance Company. He also co-directs the Indian Classical Music Society of Ireland.
