Two students from Dublin City University have been chosen to represent Ireland in Washington DC this summer as part of the prestigious Washington Ireland Programme (WIP).
Emma Kavanagh, a second year Multimedia student from Dublin and Elaine Beirne, a fourth year Business and Irish student from County Kildare, were two of 30 students chosen from 13 different universities and institutions across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Both participants, who are also DCU student ambassadors, were chosen following a rigorous and extensive selection process.
WIP is a cross-community programme that identifies young promising people with a commitment to service, a track record of leadership and who excel both in influencing their environments and in making significant contributions for the benefit of others. It builds their skills through work experience, educational opportunity and hands on citizenship both at home and in the US.
After the completion of the Washington semester, the graduates will go on to become part of the active WIP alumni network who are working to make a positive difference in their communities.
Congratulations to both Emma and Elaine on being selected for the class of 2015!
