Sponsored by Discover Science & Engineering, as part of National Science Week, DCU's Faculty of Science and Health hosted, a 'CSI World' event for local secondary schools.

The students began by learning about fingerprints, taking their own and being taught how to lift them from different surfaces. At the end of the session they had their mugshots taken.

Carmel Gray, a teacher from the visiting school, Scoil Chaitriona said, "The students had a wonderful time. They were delighted with their trip to DCU and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They came back enthusiastically quoting the speakers and telling us all about fingerprints. It's not easy to keep 54 first years engaged but this workshop did - not just the students but the teachers too."

CSI World Ltd is an award winning company that has pioneered the introduction of Crime Science Forensics into education and businesses worldwide. It provides forensic science for children through CSI schools' courses and team development sessions. Students will be learning about fingerprinting and how forensics is used in Science and Society and how to retrieve prints off various surfaces.

The schools attending over the course of the day are St. Aidan's CBS, Scoil Chaitriona and St. Michael's Holy Faith School.
