DCU staff, students and alumni join forces to raise funds for Access
3rd May

Former Irish international and Leinster Rugby star Bernard Jackman, joins training session
DCU staff, students and Alumni have come together to raise awareness and vital funds for the DCU Access Programme at the upcoming Flora Women’s Mini Marathon.
The DCU Community Team will walk, jog and run on Monday, 6th June to celebrate 21 years of DCU Access - the largest and most successful programme of its kind in Ireland.
The DCU team is being well prepared by the DCU Athletics Coach Enda Fitzpatrick, who has been training them at regular sessions in Albert College Park, DCU, for the past six weeks. Enda commented, “This is a great initiative - we have people out exercising and running who have never done so before. This is a great fundraising exercise and from a health point of view it’s fantastic. Many of these women who have started training have become more health-conscious and will continue this good habit. The training sessions in Albert College Park are open to everyone in DCU, not just those training for the Women's Mini Marathon, so I would invite everyone to come join us!”
The Access Programme, which is an important initiative for DCU addresses the financial burden that may deter bright, deserving young people from taking their rightful place at university.
All Access Scholarships are privately funded with the help of Alumni, students, staff and friends of DCU. Over the past 21 years, over 1,100 Access students have participated and over 590 have obtained a third level degree at DCU.
DCU Community Team members will soon receive a sponsorship pack containing sponsorship card, promotional goodies and mini-marathon essentials.
