Ireland is the fastest growing economy in the Euro Zone and is undergoing exceptional rates of social and demographic transformation. These changes are reflected in evolving workplace practices that require considered and robust Corporate Social Responsibility policies.

The DCU Educational Trust recognises its part in creating a partnership platform between DCU and the business community in the formation and implementation of CSR policies. On the 26 September, the DCU Educational Trust held it’s first Corporate Social Responsibility seminar in the Helix and invited representatives from local and national corporations to attend. The main goal of this seminar was for the Educational Trust to assist companies who are keen to become more involved in and to be aware of the work being done here.

For 20 years the Educational Trust has been the philanthropic arm of Dublin City University, raising private funds for the support of Ireland's youngest and most dynamic university. More and more often, the DCU Educational Trust has increasingly found a tremendous interest in issues of 'corporate social responsibility' and a need for more information and technical assistance for companies in constructing and maintaining their CSR policies.

Shane Kenny, Director of DCU’s Public Affairs acted as MC and introduced Padraig Mc Keon, Chief Executive of Drury Communications, Dr. Pierre McDonagh, Director of DCU’s Centre for Consumption Studies, Prof. Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of DCU and Patrick McDermott, Chief Executive of DCU’s Educational Trust as the seminar speakers.
