Better Options Fair for students with Disability
Tuesday 21 November 2006

DCU together with AHEAD and DAWN are pleased to invite you to a Better Options Fair on Friday 24th November 2006 in the Mahony Hall, the Helix, DCU.
This unique one-day national event will focus on students with disabilities or specific learning disability considering Higher Education options in Ireland.
There are now 3,000 students with disabilities in third level and the support services are excellent. But research by AHEAD has shown that students and guidance counsellors often do not have sufficient information about the supports and accommodations throughout third level colleges to allow them to make a good choice about their career options.
This fair will be an eye – opener to students, guidance counsellors and parents as they can talk to disability support staff about what is on offer and find out about:
- How to apply to CAO for admission as a student with a disability
- Advice on funding and supports
- Assistive technology on offer
Mr. Frank Mulvihill, President of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors will host the event and other speakers will include Pat Hoey, Senior disability Officer and Declan Treanor, Director of Support Services for students with disabilities in Trinity College.
Date: Friday 24th November 2006-11-09
Time: 10.30 -2.30
Venue: The Mahony Hall, The Helix, Dublin City University
Brian Lenihan, TD, Minister for Children will launch the Fair.
