The School of Chemical Sciences and Biotechnology held a reception to celebrate the presentation of the 2004 students medals, which are presented each year to students scoring the highest marks in the final year of each programme.

The reception was well attended by staff, students, well-wishers, parents and sponsors of the awards. Mr. Tom O'Meara presented the award on behalf of AGB to Mr. Stephen Finn who came top of the class in B.Sc. Analytical Science. Mr. O'Meara also presented awards to Ms Irene Hughes who received the highest marks in B.Sc. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science, to Ms Gene Dalton who received the award for highest grades in B.Sc. Chemistry with a language and to Ms Sharon McGee who received highest marks in B.Sc. Biotechnology.

Mr Tony Ruane presented awards on behalf of Merck Sharp and Dohme to Ms Catherine Corry who received highest marks in B.Sc. Science Education.

The Colin Barnes Postgraduate Award was presented to Dr Thomas McEvoy, by Mr. Declan Moran, on behalf of Bristol Myers Squibb. This award is presented every year to a postgraduate who contributes significantly to the life of the School of Chemical Sciences.

The School of Chemical Sciences and Biotechnology wishes to congratulate all the outstanding students who were presented with awards.
