Linda Byrne wins fourth place at the European Cross Country Championships

Linda Byrne, a student of Sports Science and Health in DCU, came fourth at the European Cross Country Championships just six seconds outside the medals in Tilburg, Holland on 11 December 2005.

This was Linda’s last race at junior international level before moving up into senior competition level. Linda’s excellent performance helped ensure the Irish Juniors became the fourth best team at the championship and the best effort from an Irish women’s team.

Great credit is also due to her team-mates one of whom was Azmera Gebrezgi, a student of Accounting and Finance in DCU. At these championships, Danny Darcy, first year student of Business Studies, was the leading Irish finisher in 20th place while 3rd year student of Sports Science and Health, Fionnuala Britton was placed 39th in the senior Ladies.
