Credit Union Directors And Supervisors [CUDAS] Programme launched as Regulator calls for heightened Corporate Governance Standards

The new programme is specifically designed to help Credit Union Directors and Supervisors gain a better understanding of their statutory obligations and provide them with the necessary skills to lead the Irish Credit Union movement into the future.

The programme, delivered and certified by DCU Ryan Academy, will be run over a two month period with each participant required to attend 5 full days of classes and to work on specific assignments and project work in between sessions. It includes modules on subjects such as: risk management, key leadership skills, managing people and compliance.

Kevin Johnson, CEO of the CUDA spoke at the launch, “The launch of this development programme is in line with recent comments from the Registrar of Credit Unions, in which he signaled the need for a heightened focus on standards and corporate governance. This new initiative will help Directors and Supervisors of Credit Unions in Ireland to better understand exactly what is required of and expected from them in their role. The various facets of the course will allow these volunteers, who already commit so much of their time and energy to the movement, to greater develop and harness their skills for the benefit of members and the Credit Union movement as a whole”.

The Ryan Academy was delighted with the opportunity to work with CUDA on the development of this timely and insightful programme.  We are committed to working with working with clients in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors,” said Ann Horan, CEO of the Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship. “The Academy can design specific programmes that fit the particular needs of any organisation, using national and international faculty
