DCU signs an Agreement of Intent with Firat University (FU)

Firat University (FU) and Dublin City University (DCU) wish to strengthen their mutual relations through an Agreement of Intent which was signed on the 15th of March 2012. Professor Bulent Sen (Vice President of Firat University) and Professor Nuri Basusta (Erasmus Institutional Coordinator in Firat University) visited DCU. Prof. Bulent Sen (Vice President of Firat University) and Prof. Anne Scott (Vice President of DCU) signed this Agreement of Intent and the Turkish Ambassador Mr Altay Cengizer witnessed the signing, offering his support to the agreement.
University is one of the largest academic institutions in the East of Turkey, established in 1975 in the city of Elazig. It has twelve faculties, four institutes, three high schools, one state conservatory, nine vocational high schools and 21 research centres with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological research. Firat University's intention is to foster similar links with Dublin City University, through future Erasmus Exchange and research opportunities. Research collaboration already begun between Dr. Joseph Stokes, Head of School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering DCU and Prof. Nuri Orhan and his academic team in the Material Science and Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering in Firat University in 2011 (organised in 2010), therefore this agreement with strengthen these links between both Schools/Faculties and the International Offices in each Institution.
