The students are all part of DCU Business School’s Next Generation Management initiative, which includes the MSc in Business Management, MSc in E-commerce (Business) and MBS in Marketing programmes. It is being led by Dr. Theo Lynn of DCU Business School.
More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organisations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever. More than 70–100 million visitors are expected to visit the expo. The President, Mary McAleese will visit Shanghai for Ireland's National Day at Expo 2010 on 17 June. There will also be performances in the larger Expo performance areas by a group from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. President McAleese received an honorary doctorate from Dublin City University in March 2008.

In addition to attending President McAleese’s address at the Irish pavilion in World Expo 2010, the Group, which includes students from Ireland and 7 other countries, will visit the Chinese pavilion and those pavilions representing the nations of the international students in the group. These include Germany, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the USA.

Over the course of their week in Shanghai, the group will also visit Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, Tongji University, and meet prospective DCU students, DCU alumni, and representatives of Enterprise Ireland, An Bord Bia, Saon Group and other members of the Irish and Chinese business community in Shanghai.
“World Expo 2010 is a unique event in world trade history and a unique educational experience for our students,” said Dr. Theo Lynn of DCU Business School. He continued, “A key pillar of the Next Generation Management initiative is global and societal awareness. This trip enables our Irish and international students to express their national pride, while also sending a clear message that the Irish education sector is open and ready for international business.”

The Group will be providing updates on their visit via the DCU Next Generation Management Student blog, which can be found at http://ngmdcu.wordpress.com.
