Service of Remembrance and presentation of memorial scholarships at DCU

The Annual Service of Remembrance took place yesterday for a range of Memorial Scholarships awarded at DCU through the DCU Educational Trust. The scholarships include those in memory of past students and graduates of DCU, as well as those in memory of key business leaders, who were strong supporters of the university. Friends and family members gathered in DCU'S Interfaith Centre for the service, led by DCU Chaplains Fr. Joe Jones and Sr. Susan Jones.
The presentation ceremony for memorial scholarship recipients followed in the Gallery, the Helix, hosted by DCU President, Professor Brian MacCraith and Mary Shine Thompson, a Trustee of the Board of the DCU Educational Trust.
A total of 14 memorial scholarships were awarded this year, as follows:-
- Charles J Haughey Memorial Scholarships – Aaron Kenny and Laura Behan
- Charles J Haughey Memorial Fellowship – John Quinn
- Frank Durkan Memorial Scholarship – Edana Keavney
- Ger McDonnell Memorial Scholarship – Mateusz Skrzyniarz
- John Thompson Memorial Scholarship – Catherine Dennehy
- Orla Benson Memorial Scholarship – Claire Morgan
- Paddy Moriarty Memorial Scholarship – Ian Kelly
- Paddy Wright Memorial Scholarships – Kirsty Farrell, Meggan King and Philip McMahon
- T J O'Driscoll Memorial Scholarship – Daniel Quilty
- Veronica Guerin Memorial Scholarship – Deborah Naylor
- Aidan McDonnell Memorial Scholarship – Cora O'Mahony
Friends, family members and scholarship recipients then gathered afterwards for an informal reception.
