DCU mourns the loss of Dr Tony Ryan
Thursday 4 October 2007

The President, staff and students of Dublin City University and of the Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship are saddened by the death of Dr Tony Ryan who passed away on the 3rd October at his home in Lyons Demesne, Celbridge, Co Kildare, after a long illness.
The university developed strong links with the family of Dr Ryan, who set up the Ryan Academy to honour their father’s entrepreneurship and business acumen. At the launch of the Ryan Academy, Dr Ryan himself said he would provide 10m Euro seed capital for entrepreneurs to ensure that entrepreneurs would not be constrained if they have an exciting but practical business plan.
Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of DCU, said that the university was proud and privileged to have been associated with Dr Ryan and his family in the setting up of the Academy. “On behalf of both the DCU and Ryan Academy communities, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Dr Ryan at this sad time”.
