Strategic Plan 2005-2010
Monday 22 August 2005

Dublin City University's Strategic Plan process is now in its final phase and is due to be presented to Governing Authority in October 2005. The document is being drawn together by Gordon McConnell, in consultation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, who have all been given the opportunity to contribute to the process in the form of discussion meetings, questionnaires and focus groups.
According to Gordon, this is DCU's most detailed and comprehensive Strategic Plan. The previous plan, Leading Change, was launched in 2000 and its findings have been implemented over the past five years. Staff are currently being asked to take part in an online questionnaire, to gauge their views on a number of issues relating to the university's teaching and research strategy, internal communications, the university's interaction with the wider community and their overall view of the university as a learning environment.
The planning process has involved and included all constituencies within the university, and has outlined specific objectives which it intends to implement within a specific timeframe. A `Balanced Storecard system' will be used as a mechanism of planning, tracking and communicating the implementation of each strategic objective and will ensure that the process is both visible and open.
Staff are reminded that the questionnaire is available now online at: http://www.dcu.ie/internal/staff/strategy/survey.shtml.
