Plasma Science and Technology receives COST funding

Indian Government supports eight DCU joint research project proposals

Dublin City University's National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology has been awarded funding under the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) scheme for its research network, 'Bio-Plasma – Biomedical Applications of Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Technology'.

16 partner countries across Europe were included in the proposal, and include Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey and the UK.

The Bio-Plasma COST Action is an interdisciplinary research initiative involving clinicians, biologists, chemists, physicists and industrialists, who will now work together to develop plasma technologies which can be used to offer enhanced quality of care at a reduced cost.

It is envisaged that plasma technology will be effective for applications such as reducing infection, enhancing the speed of wound healing and cancer treatment.
