Prof. Gary Murphy, Dean of Graduate Studies, DCU opened the Second International Symposium for Engineering Education (ISEE-08) at DCU on the 9th September 2008.
International delegates with good representation from Irish Universities and Institutes of Technologies took part in the two day symposium which brought together those involved in the field of engineering education to share best practice and resources for teaching engineering. Speakers from a range of disciplines including those delivering science, mathematics, bio-technology and other related engineering subjects presented at the symposium. Exciting new innovations in teaching practice and tools for the educator to meet the ever evolving needs of the students were also discussed.
This symposium was organised by Dermot Brabazon, Abdul Olabi Sumsun Naher (School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering) and Muireann O’Keeffe (Learning Innovation Unit and NDLR) proved to be a huge success with one hundred participants over the two days. Sponsors included the NDLR, Mechanical Engineering Community of Practice, Honeycomb Solutions, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Engineers Ireland, and National Instruments.
