The Access Service today celebrated the publication of its ‘Year in Review, 2007’, outlining its projects and activities of the past year.

Speaking at the event, Ita Tobin, Head of the Access Service, said that the service is indebted to the teachers and members of the North County Dublin community who are involved in a range of over 30 programmes in both primary- and second-level schools. Together they work in a true spirit of cooperation to encourage young people to consider continuing their education into third level.

This year a record number of 500 students are registered on degree programmes at DCU and the Access Service will strive to increase that number to represent 25% of first year student intake.

While continuing to promote the university as a real option for all second-level students, the Access Service provides a range of supports for existing students, over 430 of whom receive scholarships from the DCU Educational Trust.

Teachers, community groups and parents are encouraged to contact the Access Service for further information on any of its projects.
