DCU Graduate Captains Cork to All-Ireland Glory

DCU graduate, Sean Óg Ó hAilpín captained Cork senior hurling team to its 30th All Ireland title in Croke Park on Sunday. Sean Óg is a graduate of the Fiontar course in DCU. During his time in the University he played a major role in the growth and development of the GAA in general and hurling in particular. He was a key player on the Fitzgibbon team and also played Sigerson Cup football.

Sean Óg has achieved success with his county at every level of the game. This is his third senior All Ireland medal. He has also own Al-Ireland titles at minor and u-21 with Cork. Last year he was selected as “Hurler of the Year 2004”. Also an accomplished Gaelic footballer, Sean Óg played with the Irish compromise rules team against Australia last October and is likely to accompany the team this year on its tour down under in October.
