The DCU Fashion show 2006

The very first DCU Fashion Show, in aid of Our Lady 's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin , will take place on Wednesday, March 8th, in The Helix @ 8pm

The show promises an eclectic blend of fashion, dance and entertainment and also commemorates the 25th Anniversary of DCU. The event, hosted by RTE's "Off the Rails" presenter, Pamela Flood, will include a spectacular "Seven Deadly Sins " themed catwalk show, the DCU Young Designer of the Year Awards, performances by Ireland's premiere percussion group, Extreme Rhythm, and a VIP cocktail reception.

On arrival, the audience will walk up the red carpet into the foyer of The Helix, to enjoy a piano reception before the show begins. VIP guests will be invited to attend a separate reception where they can sip on a themed cocktail courtesy of Absolut Vodka. Each guest will be presented with a special gift pack.

The fashion on the night will come from stores such as Brown Thomas, BT2, House of Fraser, Awear, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Principles, Oasis, Esprit, Coco, Genius, Julien and also fashion designers Mia Elmes and Jane Geraghty. Everything from casual daywear, elegant eveningwear and even some sexy lingerie will be modelled by a selection of DCU 's own students. One of the models will win a prestigious contract with one of Ireland' s top modelling agencies, at the end of the show.

In addition to all of this, the audience will be treated to outfits from seven of Ireland 's best student designers in the DCU Young Designer of the Year Awards. The awards are sponsored by Waterford Crystal, who have generously provided a beautifully cut piece as the prize for best design.

This is a major new initiative for DCU and the student organisers need the support of staff in the college to ensure the success of this major event.
