Six DCU students played in the Mayo v Dublin All Ireland Semi Final at Croke Park on 27 August 2006 - Conor Mortimer for Mayo and Stephen Cluxton, Paul Casey, Shane Ryan, Brian Cullen and Declan Lally for Dublin. Experts are regarding it as one of the finest games of Gaelic Football in decades. Mortimer contributed four points to Mayo’s winning toll of 1.16.

Meanwhile incoming DCU fresher David Keenan had an outstanding game for Roscommon who reached the All-Ireland minor football final for the first time in 55 years by beating Meath who had incoming DCU freshers Shane Carr and Shane O’Rourke on their team.
