Dr Reg Shaw presented with certificate of membership of the NICB

Dr Reg Shaw, former Managing Director of Wyeth, has been elected as an honorary member of the National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology (NICB) at DCU. During an award ceremony celebrating his contribution to the Irish Bio Industry and recent retirement, the Centre’s Director, Prof Martin Clynes, presented Dr Shaw with his certificate of membership.

"Dr. Shaw's success in coordinating the success of the Wyeth Biopharma campus and his energy in promoting R&D developments both at Wyeth, Grange Castle and in collaboration with Irish third level institutions has made a fundamental and unique contribution to Ireland's industrial and scientific development” Prof. Martin Clynes Director of the NICB.

DCU’s president Prof Ferdinand von Prondzynski and SFI’s new Director General Prof Frank Gannon also gave key note speeches highlighting and praising Dr Shaw’s contribution to Biotechnology in Ireland and his long term support of DCU and the NICB.

His position as Managing Director of Wyeth BioPharma in Dublin involved overall responsibility for managing the Grange Castle site $1.8 billion Campus that currently employs more than 1200 people. Dr Shaw will continue being an active participant in the Irish Biosector, including taking on the post of Chairman of the Health Research Board.
