Free Entrepreneur workshop for jobless graduates in Mansion House –Thursday 9 December in Mansion House
06 December 2010

Dublin City University and Lord Mayor join forces to support and motivate graduates looking for work
How to make your job; how to think differently and act differently to make things happen; how to network effectively; how to start a business in a recession - these are just some of the talks being given by leading Irish entrepreneurs in a free workshop next Thursday 9^th December in the Mansion House organised by the DCU Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship and hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Gerry Breen.
With the help of the Union of Students of Ireland (USI),the workshop has already attracted great interest from many unemployed graduates looking for both motivation and practical advice on how to kick-start their careers.
Running from 10.00am until 4.00pm, the free workshop will include a combination of talks, working groups, networking sessions with plenty of opportunities for one-to-one advice from one of the many keynote speakers
“Sometimes all it takes is a jump start to get you going, and this is why DCU and ourselves decided to run this workshop” said Lord Mayor Gerry Breen. “There are so many talented, able and qualified graduates out there, we can’t allow them to get despondent by our current economic conditions. It’s critically important that we keep them keen, interested and motivated”.
“This workshop will show them how others succeeded even in tough times. It will give them practical advice on how to get their careers going, how to network, how to make and shape their jobs and not wait until the jobs find them,” said Lord Mayor Breen.
President of Dublin City University, Professor Brian MacCraith said: “This is an excellent opportunity for graduates to learn from, and interact, first hand, with people who have succeeded in business. DCU believes that a university education should prepare students to respond to a future that can sometimes be unpredictable. Empowering and motivating graduates through initiatives such as this workshop is crucial as it gives them the skills and confidence they need to take control over their future.”
