DCU students win EAMC award
13 April 2010

Two DCU students, Suzanne McMahon and Andrew Mooney, both second year students from the School of Chemical Sciences won joint second place at the recent Eurachem Analytical Measurement Competition (EAMC). The EAMC is an annual competition for third level science students, designed to raise awareness for accuracy in measurement and analytical skills.
Eurachem activities cover many areas, some of which are specifically addressed through small working groups. These working groups, some of which are organised jointly with other organisations, pursue programmes of work to seek the practical achievement of the aims of Eurachem. This includes the production of guides, the organisation of technical workshops, the identification of collaborative practical work, and liaison with the many existing organisations whose activities impinge on the analytical measurement community.
This year the competition was hosted by Sligo Institute of Technology, where nineteen teams participated, from nine third level colleges.
Well done also to Sidratul Choudhury and Alex Mendez as the second team representing DCU in the competition.
Thanks to Vincent Hooper (Technical officer, School of Chemical Sciences) for his assistance in training the teams.
