Masters scholarships for journalism and marketing

25 February 2010

Scholarships are available for prospective students of DCU’s MA in Journalism and MBS in Marketing. The awards are funded in memory of the late Veronica Guerin, investigative journalist, and the late John Thompson, former managing director of the Irish Daily Star and of the Irish Daily Mail.

The Veronica Guerin bursary is given to a student applying for the Masters in Journalism who shows a special interest in investigative journalism. Applicants must propose an outline for their final thesis/major project that is on a topic or in a format relevant to the memory of Veronica Guerin.

The John Thompson Media and Marketing Scholarships aim to encourage connections between journalism and marketing. One scholarship is awarded to a graduate of journalism, media or communications, to undertake the MBS in Marketing at DCU Business School. The other scholarship is awarded to a graduate of business studies to undertake the MA in Journalism at DCU School of Communications.

All of the scholarships are for full fees plus some general expenses. Applications should be delivered to The Secretary, School of Communications, Dublin City University, Glasnevin, Dublin 9 (mary.nulty@dcu.ie) by noon on 31 March 2010 (Thompson scholarships) or 14 April 2010 (Guerin bursary). More details can be found here (Guerin) and here (Thompson).
