Students from Mater Christi Secondary School, Finglas participated in the Schools Industry Links Scheme (SILS), which is a voluntary part of the core module taught by Dr Sarah Ingle entitled `New Enterprise Development'. It involves DCU students mentoring and encouraging entrepreneurial thinking in a selected secondary school over a 7-month period.

From October 2004 to April 2005 the secondary students, guided by the DCU students, developed a business concept called Rushbrush which was a disposal toothbrush containing toothpaste. The patented idea won the students' awards for Best Innovative Product and Best Oral Presentation in Colaiste Eoin Trade Fair.

During the scheme the students received guidance from the DCU students about writing business reports, presentation skills and many other aspects of business start up. Speaking on behalf of the DCU students, Jessica Hyde said that as a team they found it rewarding to watch the confidence of the young mentees grow over the months.
