DCU Students' Union Fashion Show
Monday 26 March 2007

The DCU Fashion Show 2007 sponsored by AIB takes place on Wednesday March 28th in The Helix, Mahony Hall. As winner of the Board of Irish College Societies (BICS) award for Best Event in 2006, everyone who attends this show will be guaranteed spectacular entertainment from reception to post-party. Performances on the night will include Grafton Street’s famous Slovak Dulcimer Ensemble, The DCU Classical Choir, Argentinian Tango Dancer, Monina Paz, and many more.
The event is being held in aid of Irish Autism Action, with 50% of profits going to the charity. There will also be a charity raffle with some fantastic prizes on offer including a weekend getaway, dinner for two and spa treatments. Each guest will be greeted with a gift bag full of fabulous goodies such as Elizabeth Arden and Dove beauty products, while VIP guests will be invited to enjoy free cocktails at our exclusive Gallery Reception.
The theme of this year’s show is ‘The Elements’; Earth, Air, Fire, Metal and Water. Each Element will be represented through high street and designer fashion, stunning light displays, a kicking soundtrack and its own individual opening act brimming with theatrical flair.
Taking inspiration from the London Fashion Week September 2006 Esthetica Exhibition, the highlight of the show will be the opening ‘Fashion Evolution’ or ‘Earth’ section, which will feature only ethically inspired clothing. Ethical and Fairtrade companies oppose the use of Third World ‘sweatshops’ and child labour and create clothes using no environmentally harmful materials. London Fashion Week has begun to mix mainstream and ethical fashion and The DCU Fashion Show 2007 promises to uniquely reflect this up-and-coming trend.
Once again The DCU Young Designer of the Year Award will return, this time proudly sponsored by Elizabeth Arden. The creations of students from design colleges nationwide will be showcased and the winner will receive an amazing prize, which includes a design apprenticeship with a well-known high-street store. The best model on the night will also win a contract with Morgan the Agency.
But it doesn’t end there. When the show is over every audience member will gain automatic entrance to the Elements After-show Party in the Helix foyer. The venue will be transformed into a chic nightclub with drink, dance and a top DJ to help you keep the party going well into the early hours. This is one night you definitely don’t want to miss!
