Monday 2 April 2007
The 4th annual DCU Media Production Society Hybrid Awards will take place in DCU on 10 April 10 2007. The event, run by the Media Production Society, rewards DCU students for their skills in various areas of the media such as print, radio, TV, photography, graphic design and online media. Neil Delamere, from The Panel, will host the event.
The night will commence at 6.30pm with a wine reception in the NuBar, followed by the ceremony in the venue at 7.30pm and finishing with a performance by Neosupervital in the OldBar at 10.30pm.
This years Hybrids will witness the introduction of five new categories to accompany the eleven already established. Among the newcomers are ‘Best Blogger’ and ‘Best Society/ Club’, which was created to reward societies who advertise and campaign relentlessly. MPS Chair, Maria Mulhall, says that the latest additions ensure that “every possible avenue of media is covered”.
“The Hybrid Awards can offer every student the chance to get their work viewed and critiqued by professionals in the industry” says Mulhall.
Among the judges will be Peter Murtagh of ‘The Irish Times’ deciding the Best Sports Writer category, Garrett Harte from Newstalk 106 for Best News Writer and Alan O’Rourke of BAFTA nominated ‘spoiltchild.com’ will pick the Best Website winner.
