19 July 2010

DCU’s School of Computing has reported an upsurge in the number of companies looking for computer graduates. Despite an overall rise in unemployment, Computing and IT jobs have continued to grow. Head of School, Professor Mike Scott is delighted with the level of interest being expressed by leading computing and IT companies.

Head of School, Professor Mike Scott is delighted with the level of interest being expressed by leading computing and IT companies. “Since hosting our annual Final Year Projects Expo in May, top IT/computing businesses have contacted the School, looking to hire our graduates, specifically in the area of software engineering. Some companies have expressed an interest in hiring anything from 2-6 computing graduates. This ties in with recent trends in the news of IT/Computing businesses who are continuing to hire. Students who are considering taking up computing at third-level should feel encouraged by these reports that show there is a future in the IT/Computing sector”. The School of Computing offers two degree programmes, Computer Applications and Enterprise Computing. The message is clear, the skills and knowledge gained from these degrees give students a pathway to greater opportunities for employment.
