DCU will host the 'Sport agus Spraoi le Cholaistí' an exciting Women in Sport Initiative on the DCU Sports Grounds, Wednesday 17 October 2007.

This event, which is open to Second level Schools from Dublin, is a partnership between the local Secondary Schools, Fingal Sports Partnership, the Irish Sports Council and the host third level college DCU. The aim of this competition is to increase Camogie participation in schools and improve communications between the organisations. The DCU camogie Club will coach the school teams and referee the blitz.

Brona Furlong, a final year student in the BSc in Sport Science and Health, DCU, attended the event supporting this Camogie initiative. Brona is the first female student to win a senior All Ireland medal while still studying a third level honours degree and is a member of the DCU Camogie Club which won the university league last year.

This event, which is for 1st and 2nd for secondary school year girls, will consist of three sections:

a) The Skills for All Section is for those who have never played Camogie before (beginners) or have had limited opportunity to play (improvers) to date. b) The 7-a-side Blitz section is for those who currently play Camogie at club/school level and for the beginners to Camogie. c) A specific coaching course for the Team Managers
