IBM Smarter Planet comes to DCU

IBM Smarter Planet smarter road-show with its mega 32 tonne hi-tech truck packed with high power computers, plasma displays and satellite dish communications, all powered by its own generator arrives on Tuesday 15th. The roadshow promotes safer and greener ways forward in technology by introducing new skills, new ways of thinking and new ways of applying technology to solve business and world problems.

There are career opportunities with IBM Dublin and they will have careers advisers there to advise and help you, no matter what your background or degree, IBM are interested in talking to all DCU students about job and research prospects for you with IBM.

11:00 – 11:30 am Building a Smarter Planet

Hear how the combination of the changes in the global job market, economy and technology industry has toughened the requirements for acquiring the best jobs, and understand the types of skills students should be acquiring to secure those jobs.

11:30 am – 12:00 pm Skills for a Smarter Planet Panel Discussion

Hear a range of panel discussion topics around how new technologies that interconnect us now make it possible to analyze resulting data and improve the way we live and work.  Local IBM Executives, business partners, and officials will host discussions around the skills they are looking to hire as they seek to apply IT to complex business and social issues in order to create a successful business and a Smarter Planet.
