University Sports Club was awarded the White Flag at Ireland's National Events Centre in Killarney on Thursday 20th October. Minister John O'Donoghue and sportswoman Tracey Piggott presented the Club's Operations Manager, Gemma Dempsey, with the prestigious award at a Gala dinner attended by over 300 industry guests.

The White Flag Award was developed jointly by ILAM Ireland (Institute of Leisure & Amenity Management) and An Taisce. The award is based on the European Blue Flag for Beaches, focusing mainly on hygiene, environmental management and excellent customer policies and practices within Sports, Health & Leisure Clubs.

Less than 100 clubs nationwide achieved the award this year and University Sports Club was also one of only 4 clubs nation wide recognised for its accessibility to people with disabilities.

The tremendous effort of all the team in achieving such an esteemed award within its eight months of opening was noted. The Flag will be on display at University Sports Club.
