DCU Alumni Making a Difference - The DCU Annual Fund Telethon

The DCU Educational Trust, together with DCU Alumni, recently held its Annual Fund Telethon, which aims to reconnect with DCU graduates and to raise much needed funds for the university's Access Scholarship Programme through the DCU Annual Fund.
The DCU Annual Fund supports a range of initiatives within the university, all of which help to create opportunities for students and build on the academic excellence of DCU's teaching and research.
During the telethon, 12 DCU students called alumni all over the world to raise awareness of and support for the scholarship programme. Donations ranging from €10 to €1,000 poured in from 450 DCU graduates, resulting in over €37,000 being raised. This will fully support 18 Access Scholarship Students next year!
Through its support of the DCU Access Scholarship Programme in particular, the Educational Trust has played a major role in transforming the future for over 1,200 DCU graduates. Under the scholarship programme, students who would not otherwise have gone to university due to financial circumstances, can now receive financial support for the duration of their degree.
The DCU Access Scholarship Programme also works with children from primary through to secondary school, encouraging them to continue their education at third-level. Without the intervention of the DCU Access Scholarship Programme many would not have the opportunity to avail of a third-level education. As a result of this initiative, there are currently over 380 students at DCU receiving a scholarship to help defray the costs associated with their education.
Thank you to all of our alumni who took the time to speak with our student callers and thank you for your support of the DCU Annual Fund.
