Rory O'Connor selected for World University Rowing Championships

Rory O'Connor, 1st year BSc Computer Applications has been selected to represent Ireland in the World University Rowing Championships as a single sculler. The Regatta will be held in Trakai, Lithuania from the 11th-13th August 2006.

Rory is a Sport Scholarship athlete at DCU and a newcomer to the sport of rowing. In three years he has represented Ireland three times, including twice at World Championship level. His recent achievements include 9th place in the Junior World Rowing Championships and 15th place in the U23 World Rowing Championships in 2005.

As a novice in 2004 he raced to second place in the Irish U-18 Championship and was then selected to race as a double scull at the world U-18 championships in August 2005. Rory is also a member of Offaly Rowing Club and is a great prospect in the sport of rowing.
