Leaving Cert Students Receive the inaugural Scholarship Award from the Faculty of Engineering and Computing DCU.

DCU's Faculty of Engineering and Computing Inaugural Academic Scholarship Awards took place on 29th November at 7pm, in the R&E Building on campus. The celebration marked the significant success of seven students across the Faculty, each of whom achieved over 500 CAO points in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent exam and is now a registered student in the Faculty. This is the first time DCU has offered such a scholarship worth €1,000 to each student. The evening opened with refreshments and a musical performance by DCU music society, followed by a short speech from DCU's President Prof. Brian MacCraith and the Associate Dean in Education Ms Jennifer Bruton.

President Prof. Brian MacCraith congratulated all the students on such a wonderful achievement and presented each of the recipients with a certificate and wall plaque for their secondary school. He explained that DCU is an internationally acclaimed university with over 11,500 students and our degree courses are recognised worldwide.

The evening followed with photographs with the awardees, parents, guardians and teachers and there was a jovial atmosphere surrounding the entire event.

The awardees were as follows:

  • Graham Maxwell: Temple Comprehensive School, Malahide Road
  • Jessica McGowan: Sacred Heart School Drogheda
  • Cian Nolan: Pobalscoil Neasain, Baldoyle
  • Aida Olaru: Scolar, Vasile Sav"-Roman, Judetul Neamt, Romania
  • Kevin O Neill: Presentation College Bray, Putland Road, Bray
