Sports Concussion - Discussion Evening
13 May 2010

The DCU Sports Medicine Series starts with a discussion on Sports Concussion on Friday 21 May. Concussion is a common injury in sport that presents major challenges for assessment and return to play decisions. Thorough guidelines are required for appropriate on-field and clinic based management, which must be underpinned by a proper understanding of the neurophysiological, cognitive and physical performance effects of concussion.
This multidisciplinary DCU Sports Medicine update will present the latest information related to concussion management and safe return to play. This presentation will be of interest to all medical and coaching personnel involved in care of athletes.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion involving the speakers
and medical personnel from various National Governing Bodies of Sport (FAI,
GAA, Horse Racing Ireland, IABA and IRFU).
