Football successes - Congratulations to our DCU teams

A hugely successful week on the pitch for three of our football teams winning All Ireland league titles at different levels, an unique triple success at University level in one week.
Congratulations to our our Fresher A team (Mens footballers) after winning the All Ireland league title, defeating Carlow IT on Tuesday at Newcastle, Co Dublin. The team was expertly led and managed by Ross Munnelly and his back room staff of Ken Robinson, Paul O'Connor and Paul Clarke.
Well done and congratulations also to all of the girls on the squad of our Ladies senior football team on winning the All Ireland league title in Newry on Wednesday night. The team managed by Peter Clarke, Angie McNally and their entire back room team - another magnificent performance by our ladies and well done to everyone involved.
Finally congratulations to all of the players and management of our Sigerson B team (mens footballers) on winning the All Ireland league title defeating UCD yesterday in Belfield. Managed and guided by Tommy Conroy and Michael Clarke in their first year in charge and assisted by Alan Coyne, Seamus Conwell and Gavin Cawley. Having won this title last year it was a magnificent achievement to go on to defend the title with honour and great credit to all involved.
The discipline shown on and off the pitch by all of our teams and students attending as spectators was a credit to everyone and noted by the various officials who officiated at the games. I would like to pay tribute to and thank all of the managers and their coaching staff for the tremendous job of work they do giving up many hours of their spare time to assist with the coaching and development of our students. We Wish them all continued success in their respective championship competitions in the New Year.
