Community Learning Achievements Recognised in DCU

A special graduation event was held in DCU today to celebrate the achievements of the first group of students to graduate from DCU in the Community, the university’s community-based learning centre, since its opening in August 2010. 19 students received their certificates from Professor Maria Slowey, Director of Higher Education Research and Development at DCU.

Theresa Gillen, an experienced tutor based in the centre, remarked on the extraordinary achievement of the students graduating today, many of whom are mature students returning to education.
