DCU triumph in O’Connor Cup, Iveagh Cup, Women’s Tennis Intervarsity & Women’s Rugby

Last week was an exciting week for sport as DCU sports Clubs triumphed in 4 Intervarsity Competitions & Leagues.

The week started off successfully with the *DCU Women’s Rugby* squad clinching the Division 2 league title in the Colleges & Universities League. The DCU team beat IT Tralee 25-17 in the finals hosted in UCD’s Belfield Bowl on Wednesday the 25^th of March. This year has seen the Women’s ruby Club go from strength to strength and the team now have high hopes for the Women’s Rugby Intervarsity competition that will be held from 1^st -3^rd April.

The* DCU Men’s Tennis and Ladies Tennis *teams triumphed in Queens University Belfast at the weekend by securing the double with both teams winning their respective Intervarsity titles. The Men’s team won the Iveagh Cup for the 4^th consecutive year in a row. he Ladies Tennis also won the Tennis Intervarsity and retained the trophy that they took possession of for the first time last year.

*DCU Ladies GAA* won the prestigious O’Connor Cup for the first time in the competitions history by beating the University of Limerick in the final played at University of Ulster Jordanstown on Sunday 29^th March. DCU played last year winners UUJ in the semi –final on Saturday the 28^th March. Following a semi final victory of 2-8 to 0-11 DCU proceeded to the final against the University of Limerick and secured a victorious 2-11 to 1-13 win.
