DCU Secondary Schools Invitational Cross Country 2011

The 7th DCU Schools Invitational Cross Country races took place in DCU on Wednesday 19 January 2011. 900 athletes, from 56 attending schools, took part in their respective races.
The Girls races provided impressive individual winners in Cassie Murphy from Our Lady's Grove (Minor), Sarah Fitzpatrick from Our Lady's Terenure (Junior), Siofra Cleirigh Buttner from Colaiste Iosagain (Inter) and Heather Lougheed from St. Dominic's Cabra (Senior).
In the Boys races, Adam Cunningham from St. Fintan's Suttin took the Minor title with Brian McGrath victorious in the Junior race. The Inter boys race was won by Mitchell Byrne from Templeogue College with Ian Guiden from St. Aidan's CBS taking the Senior title.
Schools from all over Ireland were in attendance with St. Michael's Enniskillen the dominant boys school and Colaiste Iosagain equally impressive in the girls category.
DCU Sport, DCU Security, Athletic Therapy Training students from School Health & Human Performance and the local Gardai helped to ensure the smooth running of the event.
The Athletics Club also hosts the North Leinster Schools at the same venue on Wedensday February 2nd - first of 8 races starting at 12 noon.
