Derval O’Rourke takes home a gold medal in Moscow

Derval O’Rourke won gold in the women’s 60 metres hurdles final at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow yesterday.

Derval trains in the High Performance Gym in the University Sports Club under Jim Kilty, where she also works as a marketing assistant.She won the final in a national-record time of 7.84 seconds, three-hundredths of a second inside her winning time in the semi-final.

Ailis McSweeney, a student on the MA in Globalisation at DCU, also competed in the women’s 60 metres event.
